Aim of the study was to identify factors that are predictive of treatment outcome to define homogenous subgroups of patients. After admission to the hospital, patients were weekly rated with the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (version 21 items) and gave a weekly blood sample until treament week 6. From treatment week 6 to treatment week 12/16 assessments and blood samling took place bi-weekly.
