Therefore, we enrolled 782 newborns in 5 Germn study centres. During the first 6 years, all parents are asked to fill in a  symptom diary every day, take nasal or stool samples whenever their child shows predefined respiratory or gastrointestinal symptoms, and collect asymptomatic nasal and stool samples in asymptomatic children once a year.","title_pi":"Prof. Dr.","given_name_pi":"Rafael","family_name_pi":"Mikolajczyk","contact_mail":"rafael.mikolajczyk@uk-halle.de","contact_phone":"3455573571","paper":"Cohort profile: The LoewenKIDS Study - life-course perspective on infections, the microbiome and the development of the immune system in early childhood    https://academic.oup.com/ije/article/48/4/1042/5366219","website":"https://webszh.uk-halle.de/loewenkids/","trial_number":"NCT02654210","study_status":"Ongoing (III): Recruitment completed, but data collection ongoing","type_intervention":["Non-interventional"],"type_specification_non_int":["Birth cohort"],"type_specification_int":[],"setting":"Multicentric","n_sites":"5","setting_country":"Single","which_country":"Germany","participants":["General population"],"specific_diseases":[],"mental_disorders":[],"somatic_disorders":[],"recruited":["General population"],"n_participants_target":"500-1000","n_participants_obtained":"792","start_recruitment":"2014","min_age":"0","max_age":"3 months","data_sources":["Biological samples","Medical records","Questionnaire"],"data_sharing":"Yes, there is a plan to make data available","planned_follow_ups":"Yes","consent_recontact":"Yes","further_components":"Yes","biobank":{"biobank_material":["Blood","PBMC","Saliva","Other"],"biobank_material_other":"Nasal and stool samples (symptomatic and asymptomatic)","biobank_blood":["Serum","EDTA"],"biobank_serum":["Other"],"biobank_serum_other":"Antibody titre","biobank_edta":[],"biobank_paxgene":[],"biobank_pbmc":["Other"],"biobank_pbmc_other":"Next-generation sequencing of T and B cell immune repertoires","biobank_urin":[],"biobank_saliva":["Genetic","Epigenetic"]},"pi_full":"Prof. Dr. Rafael Mikolajczyk","_id":"content:studies:34.json","_type":"json","title":"34","_source":"content","_file":"studies/34.json","_stem":"studies/34","_extension":"json"}
