The KORA study is a prospective population-based cohort study for adults in the region of Augsburg, Germany. Between 1984 and 2001, 17,602 participants aged 25 to 74 years were randomly recruited from the residents' registration offices in four cross-sectional surveys The study is still being actively pursued today. The focus is on cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, mental health, multimorbidity and the influence of the environment. The KORA study has contributed to research into risk factors and to improving the early detection and prevention of chronic diseases. The KORA study is funded by the Helmholtz Centre Munich.
